Accelerated Paving Incorporated was founded in October of 2000 by Alan and Wendell Smith. Already possessing extensive experience, the business has since provided excellence and dependable operation in the paving industry. Since its inception, Accelerated Paving has grown rapidly, surpassing many of its competitors in the procurement of governmental contract bids and works done for local municipalities. The quality of our work and confidence that our clients have in us is clearly demonstrated by many of the bids that were awarded to us.
Alan currently serves on the Idaho contractors license board for the state of idaho for a three year term. This is a governer appointed position and the meetings are held quarterly in Boise.

This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Longevity in business is becoming harder to find. Many people become disillusioned with their current business venture and decide to do something new. The Smith family has defied this tradition, although the youngest Smith slightly changed his focus. Alan Smith is a fourth-generation contractor; his great-grandfather, grandfather and father were all contractors. Alan grew up in the business, starting his career at the ripe old age of 12! However, in 2000, he decided to take his contracting experience in another direction and launched a small paving company called Accelerated Paving in Soda Springs, Idaho. Accelerated Paving offers a wide variety of services from designing and building parking lots for commercial buildings, shopping malls and restaurants to city streets and highway contracts. Alan tells me 80 percent of the company's work comes from government jobs for cities, counties, school districts and municipalities. In the eight years since the company's initial launch, it has grown to include 30 employees and holds business licenses in five different states. In addition to the company's main office in Pocatello, Alan recently opened a second office in St. George and eagerly anticipates serving the Southern Utah market. Although paving remains the mainstay for Accelerated Paving, Alan has diversified the company by offering additional services such as directional drilling, to install fiber optics, and auger drilling, to install underground water and sewer lines. Along with drilling, Accelerated Paving also has asphalt maintenance, trucking and dust control divisions, all of which help the company better serve its customers. Alan says Accelerated Paving has the ability to pave locations, such as industrial parks, that other companies might find difficult. The business also has an excellent safety record and experienced employees who have been with the company for a long time. Alan hopes to see Accelerated Paving continue to grow, especially as it branches into additional locations.
